PV Module FAQs

  1. Does JinkoSolar have REACH and RoHS certification?

Yes, Jinko has Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) certificates for all PV modules, as long as it is a mandatory regulation for the EU region. Regarding Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), Jinko also sells modules with that certification.

  2. Are there PFAS contained in JinkoSolar modules?

JinkoSolar modules comply with current EU regulations, including REACH and its list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). These frameworks are designed to control the most relevant and commonly used PFAS compounds in industrial applications. We maintain close coordination with our suppliers and continuously monitor regulatory developments to ensure compliance and manage any potential risks in our supply chain.

  3. What is the fire rating for JinkoSolar modules?

JinkoSolar modules are certified according to IEC 61215/61730 and tested to UL 790, one of the most widely recognized fire rating standards in the solar industry.

Most modules in our portfolio, including monofacial and bifacial products, have a Class C fire rating. Currently, only the Triple Advantage versions of the Tiger Neo 2.0 66-cell and Tiger Neo 3.0 66-cell and 48-cell models achieve a Class A fire rating.

  4. Do JinkoSolar's modules resist hail impacts?

All our modules, either by direct testing or by testing on representative modules, undergo hail test, because this test is mandatory for obtaining the IEC 61215 certificate.
The test is performed according to the Module Quality Test (MQT) 17 from the IEC 61215-2, which basically means testing with a 25 mm diameter ice ball at 23 m/s, directed at 11 different locations.

  5. Is there any minimum bend radius for PV modules’ cables?

The minimum bend radius is the permissible curvature the cable can be bent around. Depending on the type of cable, a specific coefficient (Cable Multiplier), must be applied. For our DC cables, this parameter is 4. Please use the following formula:
Minimum Bend Radius = Cable Outer Diameter x Cable Multiplier
For more details, please refer to the Jinko Installation and Instruction Manual available in the Downloads section.

  6. Why doesn’t Jinko’s datasheet include NOCT or NMOT values?

Our product datasheets are aligned with the latest industry standards, specifically IEC 61215:2021, which no longer requires testing or reporting under NOCT conditions. While NOCT was part of earlier versions of the standard, it has been removed in the current edition.

NMOT (Nominal Module Operating Temperature), although commonly referenced in the industry, has never been formally included in the scope of IEC 61215 or IEC 61730.

Some manufacturers may still list NOCT or NMOT values for legacy or comparison purposes, but these are not required by current IEC standards.

At Jinko, we focus on providing certified, relevant, and standard-compliant data. For those needing NOCT-related values, these can be found in the corresponding PAN files, which are used for system simulation and design.

If you require NOCT or NMOT data for tenders or specific project requirements, please feel free to contact Jinko directly. We’ll be happy to assist you with the necessary documentation.

  7. Why does Jinko use “Level T₉₈≤70” instead of listing 85°C as the operating temperature?

The change reflects a shift toward IEC-compliant terminology and avoids confusion between certified operational limits and stress test exposure. Jinko’s datasheets follow the latest IEC standards — IEC 61215:2021 and IEC 61730:2023 — which  introduce the concept of T₉₈, the 98th percentile operating temperature, meaning the temperature exceeded only 2% of the module’s lifetime (approximately 175.2 hours per year).

To align with this framework, Jinko now uses the term “Level T₉₈” in datasheets rather than “Operating Temperature.” This reflects a more accurate and standards-based representation of module performance under real-world conditions.

    • For Level T₉₈ ≤ 70°C, modules are certified under standard IEC conditions.
    • For Level T₉₈ > 70°C, additional testing under IEC TS 63126 is required.
  8. Can Jinko modules operate at 85°C?

Yes. Jinko modules are designed to withstand short-term operation up to 85°C, and have passed IEC stress tests such as:

    • Thermal Cycling (TC): –40°C to +85°C
    • Damp Heat (DH): 85°C / 85% RH
    • Humidity Freeze (HF)

These tests simulate accelerated aging, not typical field conditions. In addition, Jinko modules are tested up to 3× IEC requirements to ensure long-term reliability. Therefore, Jinko modules can temporarily reach 85°C in hot climates or under specific mounting configurations. This is not a compliance issue, unless  your project site or installation exceeds the T₉₈ threshold (i.e., more than 175.2 hours/year above 70°C).  If this is the case,  please contact us to confirm compatibility for your project.

  9. What type of connectors are used in Jinko modules?

Jinko modules can be factory-assembled with different types of connectors, which are IEC 62852 certified and used extensively in PV applications worldwide, depending on the specific order. These may include:

    – Jinko In-House Connectors (JK03M or JK03M2) – certified according to IEC 62852.

    – MC4 (PV-KST4 / KBT4) – standard MC4-type connectors.

    – MC4-EVO2 (PV-KST4-EVO2A / KBT4-EVO2A) – compatible with high-voltage applications.

The exact connector type integrated into your Jinko modules depends on the procurement specifications provided by your EPC partner, distributor, or wholesaler. We recommend confirming the connector model directly with your supplier prior to installation.
